In Ghost of Tsushima, instead of earning experience points for killing each enemy, you increase your Legend when completing specific tasks. As your Legend increases, you’ll earn more Technique Points, which you can spend on your skill trees.
In this guide, we’ll teach you how to increase your Legend in Ghost of Tsushima.
Complete Tales
The easiest way to increase your Legend in Ghost of Tsushima is to do Tales. They’re Ghost of Tsushima’s quests, and they come in a few different sizes:
- Jin’s Journey Tales tell the game’s main story and offer a Major Legend Increase
- Tales of Tsushima are side stories and give a Minor Legend Increase
- Mythic Tales are special quests that offer unique and powerful rewards, and they give a Moderate Legend Increase
Tales display how much Legend you can expect them to give when you look at their rewards in your Journal. In the image above, you can expect a “Major Legend Increase.”
Liberating towns and villages
Around Tsushima, Mongols have invaded towns and villages. Kill all of the Mongols in these locations, and you’ll return them to the people of Tsushima.
Liberating towns comes with rewards proportional to their size and difficulty. These rewards usually include Stance Progress for unlocking new Stances, Resources, and a Legend increase. The bigger the town, the more Legend you’ll acquire. If you’re curious about a village’s rewards, including how much your Legend will increase, hover over its icon on the map.
Lighthouses
There are numerous locations around Tsushima that improve your various systems, like Hot Springs to increase your health, or Bamboo Strikes to improve your Resolve. One of those seven location types are Lighthouses. There aren’t many Lighthouses in the game, but their primary function is to bump up your Legend.
As you might expect, Lighthouses usually only appear on cliffs overlooking the ocean. So if you’re looking for Technique Points, travel around the world, hugging the outskirts of Tsushima island. Lighthouses are some of the tallest buildings in Ghost of Tsushima, so they’re easy to spot.
Random encounters
Not getting XP for every kill means that you can’t walk into a town of Mongols and farm experience. But you can farm Legend from some random encounters in the world. These don't appear appear on the map, but as you’re riding around Tsushima, you’ll run into bandits and Mongol warriors. You can run from them and continue on your journey, or jump off your horse and fight.
If you take them all down, you’ll get a minuscule amount of Legend. But it can occasionally be enough to push you over the edge if you’re close to another Technique Point.
